We explore new directions in the design of virtual social environments, looking at questions relating to identity and society in the networked world: How do we perceive other people online? What might a virtual crowd look like? How can the underlying technology shape the evolution of online culture? Our emphasis is on design: we build experimental interfaces and installations that explore new forms of social interaction in the mediated world.

Applicants with a strong background in computer science and in design.
