How buildings and cities can become more intelligently responsive to the needs and desires of their inhabitants.

We examine intelligent, sustainable buildings, mobility systems, and cities, with a focus on new technologies for efficient use of urban energy, sustainability, and cultural creativity. One current project, the CityCar—a stackable, electric, two-passenger vehicle—will create an urban transportation network that takes advantage of existing infrastructure. We are particularly concerned with the emerging roles of networked intelligence in fabrication and construction, urban mobility, building design, intelligently responsive operation, and public space. We take a broadly multidisciplinary approach, and are not constrained by traditional professional boundaries.

What We're Looking For

Students with design, planning, technical, and business backgrounds with strong interest in the roles of new technologies in the creation of innovative architectural and urban environments and associated products.
