How to bring the programmability of the digital world to the physical world.

We explore the boundary between bits and atoms, asking how to embody and abstract functional descriptions in and from physical forms. We're revisiting fundamental assumptions about the nature of digital systems, including developing molecular and microfluidic devices, analog logic circuits, conformal computing architectures, interdevice networks, and digital fabrication processes. Along with research on campus, we collaborate with a global network of field "fab labs" providing widespread access to prototype tools for personal fabrication in developed and developing countries.

What We're Looking For

Students with strong experimental and theoretical backgrounds at the intersection of physical science and computer science.

Special Requirements
A demonstrated record of independent laboratory project management.
