At the Lab...Marina’s PhD project focused on developing a narrative-based, 3-D, graphical multi-user virtual environment to help children, especially pre-teens, learn more about themselves and their personal values. After the Lab...Now an assistant professor at Tufts University, Marina created Developmental Technologies (DevTech), an interdisciplinary research group that designs new technologies for promoting positive youth development in hospitals, mental health-care settings, schools, and after-school programs. In 2005 she received the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor given by the US government for promising young investigators. She recently published her first book, Blocks to Robots: Learning with Technology in the Early Childhood Classroom. |
